Where’s my Backpack: Belonging

Weekly Photo Challenge – Belonging

In this photograph everyone belongs to the group in various degrees but never-the-less,  for that snapshot in time they all belong to this group.

The photograph confirms the members of the group and over time they will be able to recognise the group and recall it’s purpose in place and time.

They belong to their Nation, their region, their town or village, their religion, their caste. They perhaps belong to other groups, friends, colleagues, a sport/hobby/past-time. They belong to their family, nuclear and extended, they belong to themselves; they have that responsibility. Some responsibilities are chosen by joining, other are inherited as a result of birth.

Even if you exist alone you still belong somewhere even to those who like you live alone.

Some responsibilities for belonging will pass and others will present themselves.

Even a slave belongs though membership isn’t voluntary

I’ve only fairly recently felt that I belong, Now, which of these handsome gentlemen belongs to you?

A thoughtful interpretation of this prompt, Tony, and a very interesting photo.
